Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
This is a specialist training course for those staff that will be required to supervise children. The course is 2 days in duration and is approved by OFSTED (Sept 2008). Children are very different in a first aid situation and the skills needed to treat a child are usually harder to master. Students will undergo training in Paediatric emergencies and resuscitation. Currently this qualification is valid for 3 years.
We currently offer the 2 Day course required by Early Years and Foundation stage staff, and 1 Day First aid for schools for infants up to secondary school.
The 12 hour Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid is OFSTED recognised and consists of 2 units.
Candidates will be able to deal with a casualty who:
- is unresponsive
- has an airway obstruction
- is suffering from shock
- is wounded and bleeding
- has a fracture or dislocation
- has a head, neck or back injury
- has a condition effecting the eyes, ears or nose
- has a sudden illnes
- is experiencing the effects of sudden heat (and) or cold
- has been poisoned
- has been bitten or stung
- has sustained an electric shock
