Level 1 & 2 Award in Food Safety
Food safety law requires all food handlers to be trained according to their
food handling work activities. We can provide the qualifications in
Food Safety in Catering Levels 1 & 2, which will assist food business
operators to demonstrate that food handlers have been trained in food
hygiene matters appropriate to the work that they do and therefore comply
with their legal requirement.
Level 1
The Level 1 Award in Food Safety for Catering is run as half-day course,
suitable for a variety of candidates, including new employees with minimal
or no prior food safety knowledge, employees handling low-risk or wrapped
food or those who work front of house, such as waiting staff, as well as
back of house such as kitchen porters.
Topics covered include:
* Food Safety (food hygiene, hazards, responsibilities)
* Personal Hygiene
* Cleaning
* Contamination
A 15 question multiple choice examination is to be completed at the end of
the course. You need to correctly answer at least 10 out of 15 questions to
successfully achieve the award.
Level 2
The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering is ideal for all
who are requiring food hygiene training for industry.
Topics covered include:
* Legislation
* Food safety and hygiene hazards
* Temperature control
* Refrigeration, chilling and cold holding
* Cooking, hot holding and reheating
* Food handling
* Principles of safe food storage
* Cleaning
* Food premises and equipment
A 30 question multiple choice examination is to be completed at the end of
the course. You need to correctly answer at least 20 out of 30 questions to
successfully achieve the award.
